I took some time this Sunday to get my things together for Zentangle. That means I printed out the booklet with the tangles, and 30 pages of squares to learn new tangles. I will bind it together into a book for reference. I wanted to make a bag to hold all my stuff, cause I lose my things so easily otherwise.
It seemed only right to make a zentangle to put on a bag that holds Zentangles, right? So Itried
I drew this heart with wash out pen and then sandwiched it and stitched it with black thread. As you can see the stitching isn’t perfect, but it’s got a lot of small shapes, so it will take some practice. Also, I could fix alot of things with pen after 🙂 this piece of cloth is about 6 by 8 inches.
I am happy to tell you that Zentangle is easier to do then expected and the results are far better and look more complex then I’d expect. It’s basically child’s play in doodling little shapes. I am really enjoying it very much. I’ve only been doing this for two weeks and here I am quilting it! It does take some time to do, but it’s very easy to do by installments, ten minutes here and there. I am really happy with it!
Next I washed out the pen, hung it to dry and went a scrubbed the bathroom for an hour! You know, I had to do something practical for an hour and that bathroom had it coming! I used half a bottle of cleanser on it too! It’s nice to have a spotlessly clean bathroom for about two hours, ha!
My cloth still wasn’t dry, so I ironed it and got my pens out. Now the fun part!! to dress up this somewhat naked Zentangle.!
and a feather of course! sorry these pictures are fuzzy, but you get the idea. with different thicknesses of pens I added dots and lines and backgrounds to the already quilted shapes. In the end I shaded it a bit with a soft lead pencil, a 4B to be exact, to give it a bit more dimension, and voila
My ‘dressed up” heart… and a close up
At this point I took a break, went to the flower fair and bought myself some new orchids. I really didn’t think about quilting the background. It would have been a bit difficult with the curlies sticking out. Anyway, I like it like as it is and made it into a bag in the evening with a zipper at the top.
The pencil case goes in my handbag, I have some paper and a couple of extra pens in there, so I can doodle and zentangle during the in between moments.
What do you think, do you want to make one now too?! It’s fun1
There are so many ‘black and white’ pics in this post, I just have to show you the orchids I bought
these are some of my favorite colors, and it smells too!
a cattleya as big as my hand!
This is a mini, the flower spikes are about three inches high.
Ok, I have to go!
See you soon, bye by,
